We can bring you the easiest, most affordable way to go solar on the market. No matter if you are in an apartment or a mansion, you can easily add solar power and dramatically reduce your electric bill and do your part to reduce your carbon footprint...plus don't forget you get a 30% tax credit. Solar power in your home also has by far the largest investment impact of any home upgrade.
Let us start off right...with facts. Here is some info you might like to see:
If you believe in solar power and renewable energies then give solar a +1 on google+..!!!
Saving money and lowering your carbon footprint isn't just creating your own energy with solar arrays (photovoltaic systems)...it's also about lowering the energy you currently use. For years now many of us have changed from conventional tungsten/halogen light bulbs in favor of compact fluorescent bulbs (CFL), however now it's all about LED light bulbs. (keep in mind that as of 2012, the conventional lightbulb that you are used to will no longer be available)
We highly recommend the best bang for the buck LED light bulbs from Lights Of America which is found at www.lightsofamerica.com and can be bought right here. For example normal lamp light bulbs are 40-60 watts...CFL bulbs are 13-15 watts...but now changing to LED bulbs are amazingly 2-3 watts and generate no heat. This is by far the biggest bang for your energy-saving buck. Keep in mind most of us keep security lighting on all night...if your running a single normal 60 watt bulb for 10 hours overnight, then that is 600 watt hours that you spend every night of the year. Switching that to one of our Lights Of America 2 watt LED equivalent would reduce that 600 watt hours a night to just 20 watt hours. Change your heavily used lights around your house and you will automatically notice a difference in your electric bill without sacrifice.
We now also offer the Lights Of America large 11 watt PAR38 for recessed indoor and outdoor lighting. This light replaces your 65/75 watt recessed lighting in your home and is an excellent flood light. Unlike other LED flood lights, this bulb dispurses light evenly across your room.
The current home LED market has been quite expensive, however Photovoltaic Tendencies now offers our favorite Lights Of America LED light bulbs for $9.99, the lowest price on the net! They last for much longer than conventional bulbs, produce no heat, are excellently bright, and provide very clean 4100k kelvin light.
Financially there is no need to replace every bulb in your home right away. We suggest replacing several of your most heavily used bulbs...nightly security lights, kitchen lights, living room lights. Then replace bulbs as they burn out when you would replace them anyway. Below are several images for the models we carry.
Another excellent way to reduce your energy consumption is to fine tune your air conditioning system with a programmable thermostat. Years ago these were as bad to program as old school VCRs. Today they are much easier with great options. In fact many models have pre-programmed modes that are optimized for energy savings without sacrificing comfort. Two of our favorites are the RiteTemp 6080 Touchscreen Thermostat with remote control and the new Filtrete Touchscreen WiFi-Enabled Thermostat both sold at Home Depot.
"Smart" surge protectors such as this unit from Philips (Walmart, $20) is also an excellent way to lower your energy use without sacrificing enjoyment. Primarily used to power your entertainment system and computer system, 'smart' surges are designed to stop power 'vampires' that waste energy even when turned off.
For instance to use in your entertainment system, you plug your TV into the outlet labeled 'master'...and the rest of your entertainment products such as vcr player, dvd player, stereo system, etc are plugged into the 'secondary' plugs. What this does is keep all the secondary units turned off until you turn your TV on...and when you turn your TV off, it automatically turns off power to all your secondary units.
What are the results when the entertainment system is off?
Energy measured before the smart surge : 86 watts
Energy measured WITH the smart surge : 14 watts
That's exactly like leaving the lights ON in one of your rooms 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year after year...that's a lot of wasted energy AND cash.
